All about moi

I am supposed to write about myself on this page. There is just soooooo much. So many realllllly reallllly deep things about me that I have decided to categorize them. I am sure this page will change and evolve because as I have said...there is just sooooo much. Yeah, I am sitting here laughing because that was said with sarcasm. Anyhow, here it goes...

Me at about 4 years

I was born Nanci Anne.....wait. That is a horrible place to start. Of course I was born cause I am sitting here typing. I really do not want to go through my entire life cause it reads like everyone else. If you really want to get to know me that well you should probably just ask me. (Stalkers need not apply....unless you are cute, rich and relatively sane...oh heck forget about the sane part.) Perhaps I should ust make lists. Let's try that.

 Things I like to do

1. Read- I love reading. I have so many books and find it the most difficult thing to get rid of in my house. If I was stranded on a desert island I would definitely have a library as my one thing . I thought about choosing Ian Summerhalder from Vampire Diaries as my one thing but ultimately chose books. What kind of books you ask? Well, being a girl of course I love  anything written by Jane Austin and of course my favorite from her it Pride and Prejudice because two words....Mr.Darcy. I also love serial murder forensic novels and trade publications. I read a lot of non fiction L.D.S. books if I can get them too but I usually get my books at the second hand store because they are dirt cheap. I have thought of getting a Nook cause it's just totally cool but the cost is holding me back at the moment.

2. Hiking/walking- I love to hike out in nature. I do not get  a lot of time to do it but when I do I grab my i pod and go. I always feel so much better after too. It is the best drug out there. All those little endorphins kicking in. It is almost as good as chocolate..........ALMOST

3 Antique stores/Second hand stores/Garage Sales- I love all of these. I am not the kinda girl who loves to hang out at the mall. My daughters, yes, me no. I like old things. Not like Larry King old but like had a great use old. My house has many antiques because of it. At second hand stores I can find cool things cheap. Wheat grinder, food dehydrator, brick a brack....I will say however that I have to be careful. I watched a whole marathon of Hoarding buried alive and became so worried I cleaned out my house the next day. No I have not even come close to that level but you should see my cookbook collection.Oh, I love cookbooks and recipes also.

4. Marketing and Merchandising- I like knowing why people buy certain things and am good at predicting why something will sell or why it won't. People's minds are fascinating. I think I kind of enjoy manipulating their buying habits. I may need to look deeper into myself on that one. I might have some unresolved issues but it keeps me in a job and a roof over my kids hear, food in their mouths and health care on their...ummm.bodies?





5. Holiday's- Now this one is a bit more complicated. I do love holidays. Any of them but now that I work in retail it has become more difficult. I shall explain. For the normal world Christmas starts just after Thanksgiving. The annual Macy's Day Parade ushers in Santa Claus at the end. For me however, it starts around the first of September when the first pallets of Christmas merchandise roll in. As soon as School is started I pull it down and throw up Halloween as fast as I can which is usually about September 5th. It stayed until November 1st when I pull it down and try to make it all disappear and throw up Christmas/Fall. The day after Thanksgiving I rip out all the Fall and make sure only Christmas is showing. Right about then Valentine's stuff shows up so that the day after Christmas I put that up. Do you see a theme here? My whole life is about Holidays. In fact at the moment I have so much summer stuff I could merchandise three football fields. Through it all I try to separate work holidays from real ones. I have learned to go slow at home. I now enjoy traditions and the real meanings of the holidays because I spend my days buried in the retail part of holidays. I

also realized last year that I have way more Halloween decor than Christmas. I think there is something sacrilegious in that. That or it might be the fact that I have some money after Halloween to buy clearance items at stores but am broke after Christmas. Either way it deserves to be looked at deeper in case of underlying meaning. Need to escape from reality in dress up maybe? No...i hope not.

6. Trips- I like trips. I like em in a car. I like them near or far. I like them on the road. I like them on a toad ( sorry I was feeling a little Seuss in me) I do like going to see new things though. I would say I like spontaneity in this but in the end I plan and pack and pack and plan. i always over-pack too for just in case. I am a be ready kinda gal. I love stopping at roadside stands or little shops and just browsing. Buying stupid trinkets to remember where I was. I like taking a million pictures even though I am not real good at it and I have a cheap camera. I do not care. I love it.

7. I like to camp- Yeah I said it. I like the smell of campfire smoke in my hair the next morning. I do not like the ground but that is why God invented the air mattress and while I do not like the cold he also invented sleeping bags and at one time I had someone to snuggle in one with for body heat. I like Smores, cast iron dutch ovens, gas fired stoves, listening to creatures make noises at night ( unless they want to eat me), and ingenious ways to use rope to make paper towel holders etc. I also like to fish, although I do not know what I am doing, and catching seaweeds is actually pretty thrilling for me if you must know. It is the only thing I have ever caught but it was a good looking piece of seaweed/ river-weed.

 
8. Survival gear and survival shows and major disasters- I honestly believe I will have to use my 3 days kit in an emergency some day. The way I see it, if I am this intrigued by this kind of stuff Heavenly Father must be preparing me for something. I think para-cord is one of the coolest things ever invented. Do you know what you can do with that stuff. I aced girls camp survival tests and have all my kids 3 day kits hidden where we can grab them and they are actually almost all together. I watch bear,survivor man etc all the time to try and memorize what plants I can eat and how to skin an animal. I would like to go hunting one day but I am not sure I can actually pull the trigger when the time comes. I  also think we should keep things beautiful in nature and not mess them up. There must be balance in all things.

    9. The beach- The smell, the sound- the power of the water. The soothing feel of the water. What is not to love?

10. New things- I LOVE to learn new things. Anything from knitting, to sewing,cooking,molding,cake decorating, fixing my car, birdwatching...anything. I don't care what it is.If it is a good thing I would like to know something about it. I can honestly say I probably won't stick to it but I will at least try it once to see if i like it. I do the same with food. I tried sushi once on accident..kinda...OK I ordered it and didn't know it and felt so stupid that I ate it so I wouldn't look uncool...long story morale is..I loved it and still do.

11. Family- I like hanging out with my family. I like family gatherings and I like going home afterward just as much. It is just nice to know they are there if you need them but in those moments you do not need anything but to enjoy each others company. I have tons of family so it is great. I do , however, miss my grandmother terribly. She was the cornerstone of our family and it is difficult to know she had to go home to Heavenly Father. It was also hard to lose Aunt Janice and realize that time is moving on. Generations are changing. It makes the Plan of Salvation-Happiness so much more real when you see it all this way.


     ......so for now that is all I have. I am tired and it is late and that is more than anyone should know about me but alas.. goodnight
